Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT)

The Los Santos Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Division is an elite unit trained to respond to the most dangerous and complex incidents in the city. This division is deployed in situations that pose a significant risk to public safety, such as armed barricades, hostage rescues, counter-terrorism operations, and the apprehension of heavily armed suspects. SWAT officers undergo extensive training in advanced tactics, close-quarters combat, breaching, and crisis negotiation, ensuring they are prepared for high-stakes missions. They are equipped with specialized weaponry, protective gear, and tactical vehicles that allow them to operate effectively in hostile environments. Beyond emergency response, the SWAT Division also assists in serving high-risk warrants, conducting security operations during major events, and supporting other units when a heightened level of force or expertise is required. Their ultimate goal is to resolve dangerous situations swiftly and safely, minimizing harm to both officers and civilians.

The LSPD shall have a SWAT unit to protect the lives of innocent civilians as well as Police Officers and Suspects. The presence of a highly skilled and trained police tactical unit has been shown to substantially de-escalate incidents as well as lower the risk of injury and loss of life to citizens, police officers and suspects. Recognizing that SWAT operations are hazardous and a successful resolution of an incident may involve the need for decisions that may affect the lives and safety of all persons involved. The SWAT team is to be a full time tactical unit. All team members are assigned to the SWAT sub division and report to the SWAT Commander, who is appointed by the Chief of Police and reports to the Chief of Police directly.

Traffic Enforcement Unit

The Los Santos Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is responsible for maintaining safety and order on the city’s roadways. Their duties include monitoring traffic flow, enforcing speed limits and other vehicle laws, investigating collisions, and addressing reckless or impaired driving. The unit also conducts checkpoints, specialized patrols, and public safety campaigns to reduce accidents and promote safe driving habits throughout Los Santos. In addition to enforcement, the Traffic Enforcement Unit works closely with other divisions and community partners to improve road safety.

They provide education on traffic laws, assist during major events to manage vehicle flow, and respond quickly to emergencies on the road. By combining proactive policing with community outreach, the unit helps ensure that Los Santos remains a safer place for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.

Canine Division

The Los Santos Police Department K-9 Division is a specialized and highly respected unit within the department, pairing dedicated officers with expertly trained police dogs to elevate roleplay and tactical operations across the city. K-9 units play a major role in a wide range of scenarios, including suspect tracking, vehicle and area searches, narcotics detection, and high-risk apprehensions. These canine partners are trained to operate in everything from dense urban environments to rural terrain, making them an invaluable asset during pursuits, raids, and missing person cases. Their presence alone often adds tension, realism, and depth to RP situations, pushing scenarios in exciting and unpredictable directions.

Beyond enforcement, the K-9 Division enhances officer safety and creates unique RP opportunities through controlled suspect apprehensions and de-escalation scenarios. Handlers must work closely with their canine partners, adding an extra layer of coordination and immersion to every call. The division also takes part in community-focused roleplay, public demonstrations, and department events, allowing civilians to interact with K-9 units and learn about their role within the city. By combining strong character development, teamwork, and specialized gameplay, the LSPD K-9 Division offers a unique and rewarding experience for officers looking to take their roleplay to the next level.

Crisis Response Unit

The Los Santos Police Department Crisis Response Unit (CRU) is an elite, all-hazards division designed for the most intense and unpredictable situations the city can face. Acting as a hybrid law enforcement, rescue, and basic EMS unit, CRU responds to incidents where lives are on the line and time is critical. From mass casualty events and large-scale disasters to active threats and high-risk rescue operations, CRU officers are trained and equipped to move directly into chaos and take control. Their primary mission is simple but demanding: save lives, stabilize scenes, and restore order, no matter the circumstances.

CRU offers some of the most immersive and high-stakes roleplay available within the department. Members operate specialized vehicles, advanced equipment, and unique tools that allow for dynamic rescue, triage, and tactical response scenarios. Whether coordinating large multi-agency scenes, extracting injured civilians, or providing life-saving aid under pressure, CRU officers are often the difference between life and death in RP. For those seeking intense situations, meaningful impact, and a role that places them at the center of the server’s biggest events, the Crisis Response Unit delivers an unmatched experience and a chance to be part of the LSPD’s most critical operations.

Criminal Investigations Unit

The Los Santos Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is where the city’s most serious and complex cases are brought to life. CID detectives operate behind the scenes and on the front lines of major investigations, uncovering the truth through long-term case work, intelligence gathering, and detailed roleplay. The division includes specialized units such as Narcotics, Homicide, and Gang Investigations, each focused on dismantling criminal organizations, solving violent crimes, and tracking ongoing threats across Los Santos. CID offers a slower, deeper style of roleplay where patience, attention to detail, and storytelling take center stage.

For those seeking the highest level of investigative RP, CID also houses an elite joint unit known as the Metro Task Force, working closely alongside SWAT on high-risk operations and city-wide threats. This unit bridges tactical action with investigative depth, allowing detectives to take part in raids, surveillance, and coordinated takedowns while building cases that have real consequences. From piecing together evidence and chasing long-term leads to coordinating with specialized units for decisive operations, CID plays a crucial role in shaping the criminal landscape of the server. Joining CID means stepping into a role where your work matters long after the scene ends, and where every case tells a story that leaves a lasting impact on Los Santos.

Field Training Division

The Los Santos Police Department Field Training Division (FTD) is a vital part of the department’s structure, responsible for shaping the next generation of officers and maintaining the standards of the LSPD. Once an officer reaches the rank of Corporal, they become eligible to join the Field Training Division, marking a major milestone in their career. FTO members take on the responsibility of mentoring, guiding, and evaluating junior officers, helping them develop confidence, professionalism, and strong roleplay habits while on duty. Through hands-on patrols and real-time scenarios, FTO members ensure that officers are not only capable, but fully prepared to contribute to high-quality roleplay across the city.

Beyond training new recruits, the Field Training Division plays a key role in leadership development within the department. Serving as an FTO member is a required step for those seeking promotion to Sergeant, as it demonstrates an officer’s ability to lead, teach, and set the example for others. The role provides unique roleplay opportunities centered around mentorship, decision-making, and responsibility, allowing officers to transition from being led to leading others. By guiding newer officers and upholding departmental standards, FTO members help shape the future of the LSPD, making the division both a position of trust and a crucial step in advancing within the department.
